My book review of 'Cloudspotting for beginners' by Gavin Pretor-Pinney and illustrated by William Grill
This is a beautiful book. The stunning, distinctive illustrations of the young, award-winning artist William Grill beautifully convey the wonder of clouds as described by their passionate champion Gavin Pretor-Pinney in a book aimed at everyone from seven years and beyond.
I've known and appreciated William Grilll's work for a number of years now, particularly enjoying 'Bandoola The Great Elephant Rescue'.
He's written and illustrated three non-fiction works so far, and his pencil drawings are mesmerising.
Teaming up with Gavin Pretor-Pinney is clearly inspired as the two work beautifully together.
There's just the right amount of text to explain and describe the names, characteristics and formations of cloud, with a lovely mix of gentle humour too. It's a fabulous book for all ages to enjoy and inform.
