My review:

Cam Killick has left the military with PTSD and unsure of his role and purpose as a civilian. The only place he can find peace is underwater, where he is alone and the world is quiet, muffled and calm.

Becoming a cold case diver he works in the Norfolk Broads, hoping to find the lost, the submerged, the drowned.

On his latest mission, he finds a car beneath the water which looks like it belongs to the Brindley family.

A mother, father and two children vanished one summer's night thirty years earlier. Among the theories of what happened to them it was thought that their car had left the road on their way home from a party, or just that the family had moved away.

But when Cam opens the doors to the Brindley car, all four bodies are missing. His subsequent investigations leave him thinking that some secrets are better off staying submerged.

The setting of the Norfolk Broads is a winner for me, and having a diver as our detective is original and enthralling. The mystery was impenetrable until the last, and then quite disturbing and distressing. It's a powerful story and I can't wait for the next book.
