My book review of 'Isolation Island' by Louise Minchin

I am always intrigued when people who have achieved the heights in their chosen profession decide to write a novel. How do they find the time?!

So I was keen to read this book from the former breakfast tv presenter, Louise Minchin.

I very much enjoyed it. There was a certain amount of depth to the characters and a serious approach to the themes and subject matter. And it is clearly 'write what you know' and as that's the world of media and television, I was easily drawn in.

Lauren is an investigative journalist who has agreed to go on a tv programme which is rather like 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here'. She is there in order to expose a film star she'd been investigating in a 'me too' scenario.

There's a good pace to the events which take place, a real sense of foreboding and jeopardy, and you believe in Lauren and her efforts. It's certainly a page-turner. I enjoyed it!
