My book review of 'Daisy and the Trouble with Space' by Kes Gray
I'm late to this series of books about Daisy, aimed at young readers aged 5-8. They have fun and striking covers with similar illustrations replicated throughout the story which is full of fun and energy.
Daisy is working on a class project about space. Different groups of children are tasked with finding out all they can about the sun, the moon, the stars, gravity and the planets, in what the teacher has called Space Week.
Meanwhile at home Daisy has been sticking glow-in-the-dark stars on her bedroom ceiling. Then her enthusiasm for the subject and all that she's learned at school leads her to add more and more features to replicate the night sky.
The storytelling is very young and chatty and the illustrations and type seek to capture attention and provide a fun experience. And in this story there are lots of facts about space to learn too.
