My book review of 'Grow Easy' by Anna Greenland
Many of us started gardening or rekindled our desire to plant and cultivate during the past 18 months, and this book helps build confidence and provide inspiration as we continue on our way. It's written by Anna Greenland, who lives in Suffolk and is planning to open a garden school here.
Anna is considered a 'rising star' in the organic grow-your-own movement and has had a fascinating career providing food for the kitchens of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons and the Soho Farmhouse.
In this attractively designed book, Anna explains how to prepare the soil - whether the ground, a raised bed or a pot - and then how to grow her top 30 crop choices of vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit. There are trouble-shooting tips, a year-round planner for tasks, and recipes, too.
Photography in the book is stunning, and Anna introduces us to her corner of Suffolk as she demonstrates planting and harvesting from her kitchen garden.
The book presents the information in an accessible, inspiring and authoritative way, filling you with confidence and enthusiasm for growing and eating more healthily. I think it's great!
