My book review of 'Murder on Lake Garda' by Tom Hindle
I was eager to dive into this book for many reasons not least the nostalgic cover design and the glamorous, picturesque Italian setting. It all smacks of a Golden Age crime novel.
And it's written by Tom Hindle who has two other novels, similarly designed and titled. His second, called The Murder Game, I loved. And this one didn't disappoint!
Family and friends gather on the private island of Castello Fiore in Lake Garda, Italy, for a modern society wedding.
The groom is doing very well for himself in finance, though the pressures in the business have been heightened recently. His bride is an 'influencer' eager to raise the profile of her brand but is struggling to counter some recent bad press. She has agreed to a photographer to capture all the events of the day for a magazine article.
A scream rings out just as the ceremony is about to start.
As the guests wait for the police to arrive to investigate the horrific and tragic event, secrets and rivalries are uncovered.
