My book review of 'Just another missing person' by Gillian McAllister
It seems an impossible crime. A young woman has been reported missing by her family. CCTV catches her walking into an alley but she doesn't come out again, and it's a dead end.
The police officer in charge of the case, Julia Day, is up for the task. And so is her family. Her husband and daughter know the drill - long hours with Julia's mind elsewhere. She loves her job and is a dedicated, thorough and committed detective.
But her family is never far from her thoughts, and in this case they become very much a part of her investigation.
Julia has a secret and the integrity of this investigation is threatened by it.
The plot twists are amazing. It's so clever and inventive, you are held spellbound as you keep turning the pages. I was in awe, and gripped because Julia was such an attractive, believable character. Felt breathless when I finished this book and wanted to tell everyone how good it was.
