My book review of 'Five Bears' by Catherine Raynor
These five bears look very different but they are actually, deep down, all the same.
This is a beautiful and deceptively simple book which has a profound message about trust, kindness and friendship.
Bear is walking through the forest, quite happily on his own when he comes across another bear who greets him warmly.
Why are you looking at me? Bear asks. Why are you talking to me?
Later Bear comes across a Polar Bear who is stuck in a tree but doesn't want help from strangers.
Little by little five bears meet and overcome their fears of others, realising that deep down we're all alike, and it's good to be friendly, helpful, kind, and together.
This is a lovely, clever book. A simple story with beautiful illustrations, it keeps you thinking long after you turn each page! Aimed at children aged three years upwards. I loved it!
