My book review of 'Little Echo' by Al Rodin
This is an unusual, quirky and haunting picture book for young children, which grows on you with each reading. The deceptively simple text and striking images cause you to halt at each page and contemplate the powerful message of courage, friendship, compassion and finding a voice.
Little Echo lives alone in a cave. She's shy and lonely and seeks out noises to be able to make her presence known. One day a little explorer called Max comes into her cave. He's in search of treasure but there are all sorts of dangers around him. Will Little Echo be able to help him? Will she be brave enough to meet Max and find his treasure?
Subtle humour and poignancy are delivered in equal measure in what is a really delightful book with wonderful characters I didn't want to leave!
