My book review of 'The Night She Disappeared' by Lisa Jewell
Teenage mum Tallulah is on a date with the father of her child. She's left the baby at home with her mother, Kim, and texts to say that she's going to be late as they're going on to a friend's house.
In the early hours Kim wakes to find Tallulah still hasn't returned. She embarks on a frantic search in the coming days, but there is no sign of Tallulah or want has happened to her.
A year later Sophie is exploring the neighbourhood after moving in with her boyfriend, the headteacher of the local boarding school.
She stumbles across a sign that says 'dig here'. As a mystery writer herself, she's naturally curious and she instigates renewed attention to this cold case.
Switching back and forth in time as elements of the mystery are unearthed, it is intriguing and compelling.
