My book review of 'Feelings' by Libby Walden and Richard Jones
Each double page describes what a particular emotion might feel like - anger, excitement, sadness, loneliness - by presenting a picture and rhymes about a scene or experience - a volcano or flood, floating in a bubble or waiting for fireworks.
The little figure is constant throughout the book appearing through the cutout of each illustration.
This is a clever, thoughtfully executed book which encourages readers to identify how they're feeling 'inside my heart and in my head'. By understanding it, come to accept and address the emotion. What's more, the author says, by acknowledging these feelings in ourselves, we are better equipped in recognising similar responses in others and we be able to help them to overcome, too.
A beautiful and powerful little book!
