Matt Gaw in conversation

Wednesday 1st May 2024, 7.30pm
Venue: Corner Room, 10 Church Street, Framlingham

We're known for our obsession with the weather in this country, possibly because it's so unpredictable and variable.

But though, typically, we can only expect about 54 days of sunshine a year, we don't really celebrate the wind and rain, the light and shade, the changing textures and colours of the changing landscape through the seasons. Instead it's simply 'good' (sunny) or 'bad (anything else).

Responding to the extraordinary, stifling heat of the summer of 2022, Matt Gaw decided to immerse himself in the 'fistfuls' of rain in Cumbria, the wonders of fog in Suffolk, the enchantment of ice in the Fens, the moody winds on the Yorkshire Moors and much more besides.

In this book, he shares his passion and delight in the beauty and wonders of our British weather, how it affects our behaviour and moods, and encourages us all to experience this most accessible expression of the natural world.

Matt will be in conversation with Catherine Larner at the Corner Room, 10 Church Street Framlingham for Ottie and the Bea Bookshop.

Tickets are £20 and include a copy of 'In All Weathers' to be presented on the night, with complimentary refreshments on arrival.

Matt will also introduce us to his earlier books 'The Pull of the River' about his journey canoeing along Britain's rivers, and 'Under the Stars', his love letter to the night sky, both of which will be available for purchase on the night.
