Grumpfort
by Jamie Hammond

Mo's full name is Monday the Sixteenth and he has just been appointed warden, one of the seven families which hold the responsibility (the others are called Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...you get the idea).

Mo didn't want to be a warden. It means he has to do his part in protecting the village of Bogfoss from the monsters in the woods.

On his first patrol he's beaten up by a goblin. That's not a good start so he goes into the woods to find a monster, catch it and become a hero.

That's where the adventure begins. Catching a monster would never be easy but there's something out there that frightens monsters too. It's a Grumpsnatcher, a kidnapper of monsters. And Mo finds that he has to join forces with a troll, gnome and snotwoggle to catch the kidnapper.

This is a wacky, funny, charming story and the illustrations throughout are brilliant.
