Details for 'Still Waters and Wild Waves' by Angela Harding
Still Waters and Wild Waves
The intricate and distinctive images of wildlife and landscape created by the printmaker Angela Harding are all around us these days, in various items of merchandise, stationery and book covers. But this, her third book recording her life and work, presents more than we've seen before, with sketchbooks and watercolours as well as her beautiful linoprint pictures.
This book was released a few weeks ago and has been prompted by some of her adventures of the past few months - watching birds and whales during a residency in Shetland, her time at the Knepp Estate compiling images for the ‘Wilding’ book, time on the wooden sailing boat she and her husband moor in Woodbridge, and travelling the countryside on her Brompton bike.
The theme through it all is her love of being by the water.
This book is called ’Still Waters and Wild Waves’ and features over 50 original illustrations of dramatic seascapes and reflective rivers in both her stunning linoprint but also some striking watercolour images. There is also beautiful photography of Angela at work and viewing the scenery which inspires her, and there are images from her sketchbooks too.
Her narrative page by page is warm and engaging, and very personal. You really get to know her through the stories of the places and people which inspire her and her delight and wonder in the natural world. It's a very uplifting read with stunning photography and artwork. A beautiful book.
