Details for 'Almost Nothing Happened' by Meg Rosoff
Almost Nothing Happened
Callum is due to return home after his summer exchange in France but, on the station in Paris he decides not to take the train and instead will walk back into the city and see what might happen.
He's got hardly any money, his French is terrible and he can't call his parents because there's something going on at home that he doesn't want to face just yet.
There's one person he can call on - his cousin Harrison. They haven't met for years, but when Callum knocks on his door, Harrison feels he's got no choice but to take him in and they set off for the concert that Harrison is performing in that night.
And so begins Callum's adventure.
It's the hottest weekend of the year - the city is under curfew - and Callum finds himself searching for a stolen oboe with the irresistible Lilou, on the back of her motorbike zooming around the most beautiful city in the world.
This is a brilliant book! It's funny and entertaining, easy and light to read but classy and sophisticated! I loved it and was sorry it came to an end.
