A fun adventure set in Wales, inspired by real events during World War II when paintings held by the National Gallery were hidden in the mountains to keep them safe. Brilliant!

My review:

Dylan's parents run a garage and petrol station in a tiny Welsh town at the foot of the mountains.

He loves helping out because it means he gets to know all about the local residents - what car they drive, their favourite snacks, when they're going on a long journey.

But one day a convoy of lorries trundles along the road and Dylan is determined to find out what is going on. It seems there is something they're trying to hid.

This is a brilliant book. Fun and inventive, great characters, and inspired by a press cutting which described how during World War II paintings from the National Gallery in London were kept safe by being stored in Welsh slate mines.

An adventure, a mystery and a great way to explore the impact of art on children and a community.
