When the lights go out

by Carys Bray
Wry and poignant, this is a wonderful story of a family contending with the possibility of climate catastrophe along with the daily grind. I loved it!

My review:

Emma is hoping that Chris is going through his mid-life crisis. But instead of a motorbike or a leather jacket, he's buying up medicines from the web and stockpiling food.

Christmas is imminent and the rain continues to fall. The end of the world, so feared by Chris, is looking an increasing possibility but his growing erratic behaviour leaves Emma fraught, and then her mother-in-law comes to stay.

This is funny but touching. I didn't want to step away from the lives of these characters. Wonderful. And a beautiful cover to boot!
